Great book for young readers. Honestly, I usually dislike any type of biographies, but this was different. The photos and drawings not only broke up the text and made the reading more inviting, but they were quite interesting in their own right. The many facts, especially direct quotes, of Lincoln were intriguing and some funny. Slavery was a “monstrous injustice.†It was a “cancer†threatening to grow out of control “in a nation originally dedicated to the inalienable rights of man.†Lincoln agreed with others that he was rather homely referring once to his “poor, lean, lank face.†When a rival called him “two-faced†during a political debate, Lincoln replied: “I leave it to my audience If I had another face, do you think I’d wear this one?†Some of the letters included reveal a man of great penmanship and great words. What struck me most throughout the book was the ending. He seemed to be aware that he would die by assassination, and accepted such. “If I wore a shirt of mail, and kept myself surrounded by a bodyguard, it would be all the same. There are a thousand ways of getting at a man if it is desired that he should be killed.†And later he had a dream that he was wandering through the White House but no one was around until he reached the East Room, where a wake was held. When he asked “Who is dead in the White House?†the answer was “The President, he was killed by an assassin.†At that point he woke in his dream. In all, a fascinating look at an ordinary man who lived a more-than-ordinary life, devoting it to leading his loved country. “…I have no other so great (ambition) as that of being truly esteemed of my fellow men, by rendering myself worthy of their esteem.†This book reads more like an adventure than a biography, but contains everything one could hope to learn from a biography.
Great little book - good for elementary age (if you believe in old fashioned education) or Jr High age (if you believe in the dumbed-down public education model we live with today. Quick, easy read, and no "revised" or "rewritten" History in it. Seller is great and would do business with them again.
I bought this book for my son's 11th birthday. He's always been interested in President Lincoln because they have the same birthday (albeit different years!). This book was the last present he opened - after the gameboy, the new game, and several other books. The gameboy went on the table and the book came out. He read for nearly an hour, occasionally stopping to fill me in on tidbits from the book. The book is very interesting reading, even for adults, and is written in such a way to capture the reader's interest from the beginning. I would highly recommend it!
It does say Photobiography... :-\ but still whish it had more text content. Overal I would recommend the book and buy again as a gift for another in the future or for younger children 6 to older...if nothing else it has pictures. My son is using this book for another school project and enjoys the book very much. I have added a star.

This book is a favorite among students of all ages. I first used it in my Children's Literature classes, and the college students often chose this photobiography as their favorite of the semester reads. Recently, I read with fourth graders, and it again appears to be the best. The text is written well, and the photos are varied and rich. It is a win, win for all who purchase it and read the story of our American hero.
Very interesting about the life of Lincoln, and it's not too difficult to read. It gave me more knowledge about our 16th president.

TRIPLE EXCELLENT!!!
The pictures are interesting but I'm sure there are better. The text is boring, and uninformative. The book is poorly organized. And the title is misleading. The earliest dated pictures are from 1880 and the latest are 1940s. To many pages are taken up by striptease series.That aside. There are some hot and interesting shots and for the price it's no bargain, but not a rip-off either.
This is a must for those who are serious about the historical aspects of the genre. We both enjoyed the pictures, especially the sequential sets.

Well I thought I'd review this before I take the test in 2 days. I find it to be very well put together, mostly explaining things in brief, concise, and easy to understand terms with examples.My only complaint so far is that there's a touch of missing information relating to some of the formulas. It's just not super clear, but you can mostly infer the meaning by looking over the examples.For me, I think the structure here is a winner. It has 13 chapters on the material, each followed by a bullet point review of "what you need to know" and a sample test on the chapter. Then there's a big sample test at the end.I'm going to update this after I take the test Friday, pass or fail.
Title is misleading, as the "101 ways" are just bullet point summaries that make up ~3% of the book content and aren't that useful.The core material is decent, I used this book while waiting for the Kaplan material and after comparing both I wouldn't waste time on this book.Final exam offered 260 questions, I found at least 5 of the recorded answers were verifiably incorrect.
Do not rely on this book as your only resource for the exam. There is much more depth in reality than this book has to offer. I agree with another reviewer that the review questions in this book were far too easy. The content glossed over many topics that should be covered in greater detail; I didn't realize this until I picked up a practice exam (from another source) and saw that the questions were nowhere in comparison to what I read. The only good part about this book is that it contains 260 practice questions (to simulate a full-length exam). However, the answer key is numbered incorrectly in the second half, so in the end I found this book to be a complete waste of time.
I spent time reading this book that should have been spent studying. Lets be honest....that's really the best way for most of use to improve our test scores.
Nicely written book. Clear overview, good examples, very readable for someone not familiar with Series 7 terminology. I would recommend it as an initial primer on the topic. It had information which would also help someone working in the business who needs a refresher as he prepares for the taking the Series 7. Very helpful to me.
