Excellent book, this book in my opinion is one of the top 5 Make-up Book Bibles for Beginners. This book has everything for beginners like me to follow, From Make-up tools to all forms of skin care. Bobbi Brown did a good job in showing diverse women of all races & ethnicities on what looks good on their skin tone which I really love as a black woman. One big thing that sets this book in another level is the step by step visual pictures & instructions shown when it comes to make-up application on the face. There are steps on how to put on blush on the cheeks, how to put foundation on the face, how to put on lip stick on the lips, how to put on makeup on for eyes, from asian eyes to smokey eyes and countless other steps for other applications of makeup done to the face. Plus there are some tips and info for makeup artist especially on the Artistry section of the book. So this book has something for everybody who are into makeup whether a beginner or a professional makeup artist. Lastly this book is a example of a timeless book you can always refer back to and keep in your makeup book collection years from now. I would recommend this book to all beginners, the best of all bobbi browns books in my opinion, and its worth the money.
I will start off by saying that, I am just now getting into make-up and this book is amazing. Of course practice makes perfect but the basics things like what the different brushes are for ,Concealers,Foundation etc were explained well.. The first make-up book I purchased Making Faces by Aucoin, Kevyn had me completely lost. This books breaks things down into digestible sections and I feel like for beginners this book will go along way as far as shelf life.Cons:Some sections could use further illustration:Example some of the eyeliner application does not show the hand movement to get the perfect swoops but that could also just be a practice issue. Where was the contouring and highlighting?which I believe deserves a chapter, there was a tiny bit about contouring shadow on the eyes, but not the cheeks etc-For this I took off one point.I took off an additional point because the title is misleading. The title says (FOR EVERYONE FROM BEGINNER TO PRO) and this is simply not true. I can see a pro make-up artist disappointed in the book. There are some sections concerning the make-up business which I'm assuming was for the pro's but not enough "INSIDER" information was given to make it worth buying for the pro.I'm just going to be honest and say I love this book even with its missing sections and learned so much from it-with that said if you have the basics down, how to apply concealer,foundation,lipstick,lip linear and know your way around different make-up types and brushes, you should probably skip this book.This is not a more advanced make-up book but for it was worth it!!:)
This book really is a great introduction to correctly applying make up, and it's also a great way to learn more advanced techniques! This book addresses everything from nutrition and how it affects your skin, to finding the right foundation as well as applying concealer correctly. I have tried to apply make up over the years, but I have had a hard time getting everything just right. I used to wear just lipstick when I was younger. As I've gotten older though, the little fine lines and some redness on my cheeks have made it necessary to start using foundation. I would try to match my foundation correctly, but I always ended up getting it either too light or too dark. I spent a ton of money over the years trying to find the right foundation! I am SO thankful that I found this book by Bobbie Brown! It has changed everything! Now I know the right way to find a foundation and to apply it correctly. I also learned the importance of finding the right concealer, the tricks to applying it, and how to set it.This book has made a huge difference for me. I will feel a lot more confident knowing that I can finally walk out the door each day looking my best. I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs to learn more about make up! It will truly change your life! I also highly recommend this book to anyone that would like to learn more advanced techniques, as well as learning about what it takes to become a make up artist.Definitely FIVE STARS!!!
This book was just ok. I think if you are really a beginner, as in you have NEVER applied makeup before , then it`s great. But I don`t really feel like it taught me anything I did not really already know. And as far as makup looks, there is really only a smokey eye look in it. The rest is just "make sure you chose your right shade" looks. As said, it is a good book for beginners, but I think anything more then that, it`s just ok. It does have beautiful pictures though and I do love that it is very detailed. Just not what I was looking for I guess.
I bought this book along with Kevin Acuoin's book, "Making Facing." Between the two, Aucoin wins hands down. Brown's book seems opinionated. I keep encountering statements that feel as if Brown is saying "this must be done this way or it's wrong." I was very discouraged because some of the things that Brown says to NEVER do are things that seem to work very well for me. In contrast, the very first sentence on the inside of the front cover in Aucoin's book is, "There are no rules when it comes to makeup."That said, "Makeup Manual" is a book worth looking through. Great photos and there is interesting information. If you are only going to buy one book though, I would pass on this one in favor of "Making Faces."
Bought this for my granddaughter who loves makeup, and also bought a lighted vanity mirror. She loves the manual! It gave her lots of info, great pictures, etc. One of her favorite gifts this year.
As I said before IIIII LOOOOOOVE IT. Every makeup lover should own this book. It’s very helpful and to the point. I also got the Everything Eyes: professional techniques *Essential tools* by Bobbi Brown.

I am teaching this book to a group of young married couples Sunday School class. They are really into this book and I feel sure their time in this study will be very beneficial to them. I would recommend this book to young, middle and older couples. Thanks Art for this wonderful book.
The single best book in over a decade on family finance. All familial prejudice noted, I absolutely love this book. It will be a part of my platform for years to come.
This book combines storytelling, scripture application, and Art Rainer’s personal financial career and family experience to guide couples toward a more biblical way of approaching money. I think that those, both newlyweds and seasoned couples, could really benefit from this as a resource. The book’s specific purpose is to bring couples together to work as a team on their financial goals. Unity is a big aspect of this plan.He gives a list of steps to guide couples to be generous, pay off debt and build wealth. He reminds us that all of these things are not for our own benefit but for the purpose of glorifying God. He concludes the book with four really important ways that couples are divided and how to overcome those roadblocks.If you have read anything by Dave Ramsey you will find much of the advice here familiar. That being said, Rainer’s style is different and is beneficial as an added resource in this realm. I actually highly recommend both and see that they each bring their own unique style to the table to help couples get out of debt and save for their futures.As I mentioned earlier it is a great resource for newlyweds but also for couples who have been in the trenches for several years and are struggling. I found quite a few things here that have helped me to understand the unity in finances aspect more deeply. Dan and I have been married for 29 years and are still working through some of these steps on a regular basis. With two children in college our financial situation has changed over the last few years and we are making course corrections on a regular basis. LOLIt is great to read this as a reminder to trust God in all things and to ultimately desire to use our finances for His glory and not our own. The book really gives a Godly perspective on how to handle money in our marriages and families. I encourage you to grab a copy for your family and maybe an extra to pass along. It would be a great book for a group book study, too.
I've read a LOT of books on finance and a lot of books on marriage. There are many good ones in both categories and a whole lot more not so good ones. This one ranks good in both categories. It's an easy read and the "story" that goes along with the principles is an engaging one. The principles he suggests are sound and pretty easy to pull out and plan to implement in a couple's life.That said, I'd change the focus on the book. While it's a great tool for married couples, it seems to me that most couples should get this information into their hands BEFORE they're married so they're not playing the catch up game. Granted, those couples that already are behind in this area will find it helpful, but part of me wishes the author would rebrand the book for anyone considering marriage in the future. Or just anyone.But, overall I do recommend it and would say give it to an engaged couple as part of their pre-wedding counseling.I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
Art Rainer has written an excellent financial guide for married couples. In this book, Rainer presents eight money milestones. These are practical and important steps to helping you and your spouse become financially healthy. The eight milestones are similar to Dave Ramsey's steps to financial freedom for those that are familiar with it, except for the very first step: Start Giving. The Bible tells us to give generously, save wisely, and live appropriately. Rainer also outlines how to create a budget and develop a plan to stick to it.Financial stress is often the great divider in marriages. However, money itself is usually not the cause of most disagreements. Money is a symptom. The root of financial stress and disagreements can come from one of four marriage dividers: poor communication, selfishness, distrust, and unrealistic expectations. Rainer provides practical advice that will help strengthen your marriage as you and your spouse work together as a team. Throughout the book Rainer reminds the reader to examine all decisions through a Biblical lens. He also reminds us several times in the book that God designed us not to be hoarders, but rather conduits through which his generosity flows. We should be focused on living generously, giving generously, and learning how Christians should view retirement differently than others.At the end of each chapter, you find Marriage Challenges. They are designed to get you both on the same financial page and to encourage you to live out God’s design for you and your money. Many of them are simply conversation starters for you and your spouse. Great overall book on specific topics on vision, The first chapter by Thibos is a great overview of resolution, the only flaw is that he uses his own over-estimated data, rather than that from later experiments that corrected a flaw in his visual targets (but what would you expect?).
